Dutch Hollow Farms in Modesto was gearing up for a blooming season of fun with their annual tulip U-pick event, but it seems the excitement blossomed too quickly. Over the course of just three days, an astounding 10,000 visitors arrived, and let’s just say, not everyone treated the flowers with the delicate care they deserve. Owner John Bos found himself heartbroken as beautiful tulips became trampled and discarded, leading to the difficult decision to close the event early.

Bos described the disheartening sight of flowers that“could have gone to somebody else’s home”left littering the ground. With tulips blooming three weeks ahead of schedule, the farm’s serene flower fields turned into a chaotic scene of wilting petals. The situation was not only devastating for the flowers themselves but also a substantial blow to the family legacy tied to them.

On a positive note, as one chapter closes, another opens! Dutch Hollow Farms is set to kick off Baby Animal Days on March 19, allowing visitors a chance to cuddle adorable baby goats and other farm animals. Here’s hoping the little ones are far gentler on the landscape than those enthusiastic tulip pickers!
