A routine stop at an Elk Grove gas station turned violent in March, and now a 30-year-old Amazon delivery driver is facing serious legal trouble. Terrence Wheeler of Antioch is charged with felony elder abuse, felony criminal threats, and misdemeanor battery after police say he punched a 72-year-old man in the head over a parking stall.
The incident happened at a gas station on Sheldon Road and East Stockton Boulevard. According to Elk Grove police, the victim pulled into a spot that Wheeler wanted. Wheeler allegedly threatened the man, then struck him as he walked by, causing him to fall. Wheeler left the scene but later turned himself in and was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail.
Wheeler’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 24. Amazon has not issued a public statement about the case. This story raises questions about road rage, elder safety, and whether companies like Amazon bear responsibility for their drivers’conduct on the job. How do you stay calm when parking gets tense?
