The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office has released body camera footage of a July 15 incident in Foothill Farms that ended with a deputy fatally shooting a 23-year-old man. According to investigators, deputies were first called to a Starbucks on Elkhorn Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. after a man armed with a kitchen knife forced employees into a back room and then fled. A short time later, a deputy spotted a man matching the description walking into an open garage on Diablo Drive.
Inside that garage were a 63-year-old woman and her 26-year-old daughter. Investigators say the man stabbed the mother multiple times, and the daughter was also stabbed as she tried to intervene. The deputy drove into the driveway and fired three rounds, striking and killing the suspect at the scene. Both women were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and are expected to survive. No deputies were injured, and investigators say there was no known connection between the suspect and the victims.
