Cement Fire Burns 5 Acres Near San Andreas in Calaveras County; Crews Responding

A new wildfire called the Cement Fire is burning in Calaveras County this Monday morning, and Cal Fire crews are already on scene. The fire started near Cement Plant Road and Pool Station Road in San Andreas and had burned approximately 5 acres as of 11:40 a.m. Meteorologist Dirk Verdoorn reports winds are light at 6 mph with gusts up to 12 mph, pushing the fire to the west and northwest. An Alert California camera captured a plume of white smoke rising from the area.

The good news is that conditions are relatively calm, which should help firefighters get a handle on the blaze.
