Chaos at Howe Park: When a Picnic Turns into Panic

A seemingly ordinary gathering at Howe Park in Sacramento took a dramatic turn this past Saturday when gunfire erupted, leaving four people injured and the community in shock. The event, which many believed was tied to a local“Picnic Day,”was quickly deemed unauthorized by park officials. As hundreds enjoyed their day in the sun, reports of concealed weapons and a massive brawl led deputies to spring into action.

Witnesses described the chaotic scenes, with one balloon vendor, Ahmed Mohammed Ali, recounting the moment he heard the shots. Ali, just trying to sell balloons, found himself running for cover as fear took over the park. Thankfully, the injured—three men and a woman—are in stable condition. But the incident raised more questions than it answered.

Authorities have identified a vehicle of interest located in Fairfield and detained three individuals, though the connection to the shooting remains unclear. With no suspects identified yet, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is still piecing together what transpired.
