Chaos at UC Davis: When a Conservative Event Turns into a Scene from a Thriller

The atmosphere was charged at UC Davis during a Turning Point USA event where guest speaker Brandon Tatum took the stage, but the excitement quickly turned to chaos. On April 3, 2025, masked individuals clashed with attendees, vandalizing property and assaulting at least one person. Footage captured Tatum stepping in as a group dressed in black wreaked havoc on the setup, destroying tents and creating a ruckus on the campus quad.

Fast forward to today, and we find out that 22-year-olds Joanna Sodke and Chloe Peterson are facing serious felony charges linked to the incident. Both are charged with conspiracy to commit a riot and battery, highlighting just how far tensions can escalate in these politically charged environments. The Yolo County District Attorney’s Office has made it clear that such aggressive behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

For students on campus, the fear and uncertainty surrounding free speech have become all too real. If this event serves as a reminder of anything, it’s that maintaining a civilized debate can sometimes feel like a daunting task. Let’s just hope that the next campus event stays on topic—for the sake of everyone’s “wellness.”
