The old Elk Grove library at 8900 Elk Grove Boulevard has served its community for years. But now that the library has relocated to a new facility, the building is sitting empty. And Elk Grove is asking residents to help decide what should take its place.
The city is hosting two community workshops today, Wednesday, Sept. 2, at The Center at District56, located at 8230 Civic Center Drive. The first session runs from 3-5 p.m. and the second from 6-8 p.m. Assistant City Manager Jaqui Guzman says the feedback they keep hearing from residents is a desire for a gathering space and a sense of place. The city previously held a design session with young people, and now they’re expanding the conversation to the broader community.
Can’t make it to the workshops in person? No problem. The city has an online survey available for residents who want to weigh in from home. All of this feedback will help shape themes and recommendations for the site’s future use. It’s a real chance to have a say in what happens to a familiar landmark in your neighborhood.
