Father and Son Convicted in Armed ATM Robbery Spree Across Sacramento County

A Sacramento County jury has convicted a father and son for a series of armed ATM robberies that rattled the region in late 2023. Myahl Chapman-Joseph was found guilty of eight counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery. His father, Deleon Joseph, was convicted of one count of robbery. Prosecutors said Chapman-Joseph wore a mask and ambushed victims at gunpoint while they used Wells Fargo and Golden 1 Credit Union ATMs, with Joseph acting as the getaway driver.

The robberies stretched from September 9 to Christmas Day of 2023, according to prosecutors, and two guns linked to the crimes were found at a home in Meadowview. Sentencing is scheduled for October 28. Chapman-Joseph faces 46 years, and Joseph faces seven. Both convictions came from a Sacramento County jury, and the case is being handled by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.

The convictions bring a measure of closure to victims who were simply trying to withdraw cash.
