Gabby Petito’s parents will speak Thursday night in Vacaville at a free event aimed at preventing youth dating violence and helping young people build healthy relationships.“Breaking the Silence”runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Journey Downtown and is designed for teens, young adults, parents, educators, and anyone who wants to recognize the warning signs before a relationship turns dangerous.

Also on the program is Joseph Hunter, a Sacramento firefighter and two-time“Survivor”finalist, who will share how he lost his sister to domestic violence. His story, paired with the Petitos’message, gives the evening both national context and a local connection.
