Lee Reynolds in New Milton, England thought he was doing the right thing. He pulled up to four recycling bins that were overflowing and placed a small cardboard box next to them instead of adding to the pile. The local council saw it differently, slapping him with a £1,000 fine for fly-tipping.
The fine was later reduced to £150 after the council changed the charge to“failure to control household waste.”Reynolds paid the reduced fine but is still speaking out, saying the messy site was a fire hazard and that the fine was unfair since the council wasn’t keeping the area clean in the first place.
