A Missouri man decided to take a literal leap of faith early Saturday morning when he jumped off the Kimberling City Bridge to escape police. Gavin Thor Lundgren, 26, was leading deputies on a chase when he stopped his car on the bridge, got out, and dove 40 feet into Rock Lake. Dashcam footage shows the wild moment, and deputies can be heard calling for water patrol as he hits the water below.
Incredibly, Lundgren survived the fall and swam to shore. But the story doesn’t end there. While deputies attempted to arrest him, he head-butted two officers, injuring them both. He now faces charges including resisting arrest, careless driving, and three counts of third-degree assault. The sheriff of Stone County called the incident a first for his department.
We can’t help but wonder if his middle name, Thor, played a role in his decision to take such a dramatic dive. Would you risk a 40-foot fall to avoid a traffic stop? Let us know what you think in the comments.
