Parks, Guns, and Bad Decisions: A Live Oak Shooting Shocker

A 17-year-old from Marysville is in custody after a shooting incident that left the Live Oak community reeling. On a Wednesday afternoon, around 3 p.m., gunfire erupted in the 2800 block of Pennington Road, causing chaos in what should have been a leisurely day at the park. Eyewitnesses describe a scene where multiple shots were fired from a vehicle targeting an individual who was trying to escape. Shockingly, the gunfire hit nearby properties, including a house and a vehicle, elevating the tension in the area.

Sutter County Deputies acted swiftly, responding to reports of the incident. They gathered descriptions of the suspect vehicle, leading to the Gridley Police Department halting it on Highway 99. In a turn of luck for law enforcement, they recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. The teen was charged with serious offenses, including attempted homicide and participating in a criminal street gang.

But that’s not all—30-year-old Christian Seaborn of Yuba City was also arrested in connection to the crime. Seaborn faces charges ranging from being an accessory to driving under the influence. It seems clear that this incident serves as a disturbing reminder of how quickly fun can turn to fear, leaving us all to ponder the choices that lead to such dire situations.
