Exciting changes are coming to Mural Alley in downtown Modesto! Thanks to a nearly $3 million state grant, the city plans to transform this vibrant, mural-filled corridor into a premier outdoor art destination. Already home to more than 20 beautiful works by local and regional artists, Mural Alley will soon feature updated lighting, new seating, and walking paths—all aimed at making it a place where people want to linger and explore.
City officials, including Jessica Hill, the Community and Economic Development Director, underscore the importance of community input in this project. Residents are invited to share their ideas during a workshop scheduled for February 12. With construction expected to wrap up by the end of the year, Modesto is gearing up for a lively and artistic renaissance. Let’s hope it’s more than just the wheels on the bus going round and round—this might be the new heartbeat of downtown Modesto!
