Sacramento Mother’s Car Stolen Twice in One Week — With Her Son’s Ashes Inside

A Sacramento mother is speaking out after her late son’s car was stolen not once, but twice in the same week. Deborah Grimes says her 2019 GMC Acadia held the ashes of her son Najee, who was killed outside a local club in 2022. The car was first stolen from her home, recovered by police, and then stolen again just days later by the same suspect.

Authorities arrested 28-year-old Parris Lee-McCall in connection with both thefts. The vehicle, which Deborah says carries deep sentimental value, has been returned to her. She told reporters, “All I could think of was pieces of Najee being taken away.” Her eyes red from crying, she described the experience as “lightning striking twice.” Najee was a former football coach and the inspiration behind his mother’s charity work.
