If you’ve ever wondered what brings 8,000 people together on a Sunday in South Sacramento, the answer is simple: family, culture, and an absolutely staggering amount of lumpia.

Filipino Fiesta is back this year, and it’s bigger than ever. The festival, which has been a Sacramento institution since 1977, celebrates Filipino history and culture while honoring the Philippines’128th Independence Day. This year, 80 vendors will be on hand to showcase everything from traditional food to community organizations making a real difference in the area. But let’s be honest—most people show up for the food, and we can’t blame them.

Kathleen Rapisurda-Pardo has been volunteering with the Fiesta for five years, and her role is a testament to the labor of love behind the scenes. She’s preparing anywhere from 800 to 1,000 lumpia for the event, with help from her husband Mark, who handles the frying, and their kids, who pitch in at the booth. When asked what makes the festival special, she describes it perfectly:“It feels like one big family party.”That’s not corporate speak—that’s the real vibe. The festival draws not just the Filipino community, but anyone curious about the culture and eager to be part of something inclusive and welcoming.

This year also brings special recognition to five community organizations making tangible impacts in Sacramento, including OCA-ACCARI, My Sister’s House, and Capital organizations. There’s also a car show component, with over 100 pre-registered vehicles expected—because nothing says celebration like a custom Subaru Forester on full STI coils.

Filipino Fiesta runs on Sunday, June 7 starting at 7:00 p.m. at Rizal Community Center, 7320 Florin Mall Drive. Whether you’re there for the lumpia, the performances, the vendors, or just to soak in the energy of one of Sacramento’s most vibrant annual celebrations, you’re guaranteed a warm welcome. All are welcome.
