If you’ve seen a light rail train rolling through the Railyards with“TESTING”on the display, that’s SacRT getting the Green Line ready to welcome riders again. Operator training and train testing began Sept. 14, the first major step since the line was suspended back in June 2025 for construction. The trains you’re seeing are closed to passengers, so keep that in mind if you’re tempted to flag one down.
The work that kept the line dark includes a brand-new station at 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard. That stop will connect the growing Railyards development, with its housing, business space, and long-planned MLS stadium, directly to the light rail network. For a neighborhood that size, having its own station changes how people get downtown, to games, and to work.
