Stockton Man Sentenced to 74 Years to Life for Murder of Brandi Hornsby, Mother of His Child

A San Joaquin County judge has sentenced D’Angelo Webb to 74 years to life in prison for the 2021 murder of Brandi Hornsby, the mother of his child. Hornsby was strangled and stabbed roughly six weeks after giving birth. Her body was found inside a suitcase in the kitchen of her Stockton home after her family reported her missing and her mother, Tonya, came to check on her. Webb attacked Tonya with a knife, fled with the couple’s infant daughter, and stole Tonya’s vehicle.

Webb was convicted in November 2024 on charges including murder, attempted murder, and child endangerment. In announcing the sentence, the district attorney’s office described the killing as a horrific and calculated act of violence that took the life of a young mother and left her family with unimaginable pain. The sentence means Webb will spend the rest of his life in prison.
