Tony Hawk Introduces Interpol On Stage, Makes Hilarious Promise About His Skateboarding Career

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk showed up at an Interpol concert in San Diego last Friday and surprised everyone by introducing the band on stage. But the best part came when he explained his history with the group. Hawk revealed he first saw them play during a sound check at a Jay Leno taping back in 2004, and he’s been a devoted fan ever since.

During his introduction, Hawk made a promise that got the crowd laughing. He said he’s not going to quit skating until Interpol stops touring. That’s quite a commitment from a guy who’s been at the top of his sport for decades. He also threw in a dad joke about“slow handplants”that he admitted his wife didn’t find funny, but he’s standing by it. Classic dad behavior right there.

Interpol is currently on a US tour with a new album,“This Mirror Weighs A Ton,”set to drop on August 28. The band also has a UK and Europe co-headline tour with Bloc Party scheduled for later this year. So Tony Hawk will be keeping his wheels on the ground for a while.
