Tracy High Football Coach Arrested After Students Find Phone Recording in Locker Room

A Tracy High School football coach and teacher was arrested on campus Friday after students discovered his cell phone recording them in the boys’locker room. Jeffrey Pribble, who joined the school as an assistant coach in 2004 and became varsity head coach in 2021, was cited on a misdemeanor charge of secretly recording an identifiable person who is fully or partially undressed in a private area. Police say the students stopped the recording, deleted the footage, and turned the phone over to a staff member. Pribble was processed at the police station and released without being booked into jail. He is currently on leave from Tracy Unified School District.

The investigation is ongoing and involves Tracy Police, the school district, and the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office. In a statement, the district said it is deeply concerned about the allegations and remains focused on protecting student safety, though officials have not said what additional steps, if any, are planned for locker room or phone policies at Tracy High. Students we spoke with described a mix of disbelief and unease, with one junior noting that even though he wasn’t in the locker room that day, hearing about it made him worry about how other students are coping.
