Nobody likes feeling like they got the short end of the stick, especially when it comes to bacon. A recent TikTok video has folks checking their kitchen scales after the creator weighed two packages of Walmart’s Great Value bacon and found them both under the labeled 16 ounces. One came in at 13.4 ounces, the other at 14 ounces, which is roughly three strips missing per package.
Social media jumped on the story pretty quick. Commenters on X shared their own experiences with short bacon packages, and one user estimated Walmart could be pulling in an extra $4 to $8 million per month if the shortages are happening across the board. But not everyone’s convinced. Another X user said their recent Great Value packages weighed over 18 ounces, and the Daily Dot could not independently verify the claims in the video.
Whether this is a widespread issue or just a couple of bad packages, it’s got people thinking about what they’re really getting at the grocery store. We want to hear from you. Have you ever weighed your bacon or other packaged meat at home and found it short? What did you do about it?
