In a scene that sounds straight out of a movie, a bear wandered through the residential streets of Pacoima, California, on Monday morning. Caught on aerial footage, this approximately 275-pound unruly visitor made itself at home, scaling fences and searching backyards for snacks. Neighbors were understandably surprised, with some dogs getting quite the workout as they barked at their newfound friend.
The bear, estimated to be around 3 to 4 years old, had likely come from the nearby Angeles National Forest, where it had been sighted just a day prior. As if things weren’t already chaotic, the situation resulted in a brief lockdown at the Sara Coughlin Elementary School, reminding everyone that bears and schools don’t exactly pair well! Eventually, wildlife officials stepped in, tranquilizing the furry intruder so it could be safely relocated back to its natural habitat.
Imagine having to call animal control because a bear just had brunch in your backyard! While this bear showed no signs of aggression, it certainly stirred up excitement—and maybe a little panic—among locals. Hopefully, the bear sticks to the great outdoors instead of backyards in the future!
