Northern California has finally waved goodbye to its monthlong dry spell, as rain and snow returned to the region this week. Ski resorts, particularly Bear Valley, are celebrating with reports of up to 10 inches of new snow, while other areas like Kirkwood and Sierra-at-Tahoe saw around 3 inches. With the statewide snowpack currently at a mere 55% of normal, Meteorologist Tamara Berg is calling for more snow, and it appears the heavens might just oblige.
Sacramento and its surrounding areas also enjoyed a bit of the wet weather, with rainfall ranging from a tenth to nearly three-quarters of an inch depending on the location. All of this signals a shift in the landscape, as yet another storm is forecasted to arrive from Sunday through Wednesday, potentially delivering another 3-5 feet of snow in the mountains. It’s the perfect time to bundle up and hit the slopes, or maybe just cozy up at home with a warm drink. After all, nobody ever complained about a little winter wonderland!
