Carly Ann Taylor knows what it feels like to need a reason to keep going. Her new single“Something Good Is Coming,”out now on Curb Records, grew out of a sentence she kept telling herself in a hard season.“These were the exact words that started it all,”Taylor says.“Something good is coming. And those words were just enough for me to hang on a little bit longer.”
Taylor wrote the pop-leaning track with Carter Frodge and Harrison Hackett, while Frodge and Joseph Prielozny handled production. It arrives on the heels of“Lifeline (with KB),”which landed a Spotify Editors’Pick spot in August. And she doesn’t run from the story behind the song. Taylor has been open about coming out of abuse and dysfunction, and about faith being what brought her through. That’s why the promise in the chorus carries real weight.“He had plans for my life,”she says,“and that same promise is for you: Something good is coming for you.”
Want to hear it live? Taylor joins Big Daddy Weave’s“My Hope Is Jesus Tour”with Caleb&John this fall, starting October 1 in Aiken, South Carolina, and running through November 22 in Northfield, Illinois. What’s the one sentence that’s kept you going when life got heavy? Tell us in the comments.
