Ella Langley Leads Historic Seven-Week Women's Takeover of Country Charts

For seven straight weeks, women have held every single spot in the top five on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. That’s the longest such streak since the chart began in 1980. Leading the way is breakout star Ella Langley, who has three songs in the top five, including the number-one hit“Choosin’Texas.”Taylor Swift’s“I Knew It, I Knew You”holds at number two, and Stella Lefty’s“Boston”is at number three.

This milestone reflects a major shift in how country music is consumed. The Hot Country Songs chart now includes streaming, sales, and all-format airplay, which has opened the door for women artists who may not get heavy rotation on traditional country radio. In fact, country radio has had no women in the top five during 42% of weeks this decade. But the fans are speaking through their playlists, and women are winning.
