Highway 50 Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting: What We Know About the Multi-Agency Chase

A routine traffic stop on Folsom Boulevard late Monday night turned into a deadly multi-agency pursuit that shut down a major stretch of westbound Highway 50 for hours. The California Highway Patrol initially stopped a vehicle around 11:20 p.m. for driving without headlights. The driver fled, leading officers on a chase through Rancho Cordova and Fair Oaks before spike strips brought the vehicle to a halt on Highway 50 near Hazel Avenue just after midnight.

The driver was transported to a hospital where they later died.
