Dancing with the Stars returns tonight for its 35th season, and the show is going bigger than ever. Sixteen celebrities are competing this time around, the largest cast in the history of the series. The two-night premiere starts Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, with the men performing tonight and the women taking the floor on Sept. 16.
Week one comes with a theme that’s bound to stir up some memories: each star dances to a number one hit from the year they were born. That means the song list stretches across decades, and depending on your age, you might hear a tune that takes you straight back to high school. The season also features some historic firsts, including an Olympic champion and a Paralympic champion competing in the same season, plus the third same-sex partnership in the show’s history.
The cast includes Guillermo Rodriguez from Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Olympic figure skating gold medalist Amber Glenn, Paralympic track and field gold medalist Ezra Frech, actress Jenna Dewan, and actress and director Julia Stiles. New episodes air weekly on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET, and cord-cutters can watch with a five-day free trial from DIRECTV.
So who are you rooting for this season, and what song from your birth year would you pick for your first dance?
