Ian Munsick is giving fans a fresh taste of his upcoming album“The Mountain Goat”with the release of his new single,“Palomino Eyes.”The song came together fast. Munsick was driving through Tennessee, spotted a Palomino horse with blue eyes, and immediately thought of his wife, Caroline. He called up songwriter Phil O’Donnell, and the two knocked out the track in just a few hours.

Munsick says the writing process was unusually organic. They didn’t stress over structure, and they weren’t even sure which part was the chorus. He describes the song as“free and untamed, just like that Palomino and my beautiful wife.”For him, that’s what makes it special, and he’s called it his personal favorite on the upcoming album.

“Palomino Eyes”is streaming now, and the full record,“The Mountain Goat,”arrives August 21st. If this single is any sign, fans are in for something that breaks the typical mold. What do you think of the new track? Are you planning to check out the full album when it drops? Let us know in the comments.
