Country star Orville Peck is getting real about the darkest chapter of his life. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the 38-year-old singer revealed that he attempted suicide in June 2023 after purposely overdosing in a hotel room. The incident happened two days before he had to cancel his“Bronco”tour, citing mental and physical health struggles. Peck described himself at the time as“a bad addict, a coping alcoholic”and said the overdose was a“big turning point”that led to a series of life-changing realizations.
Instead of letting that moment define him, Peck channeled it into his upcoming fourth studio album“Mule,”which drops September 18. He calls the album a chronological account of the year he“lost his way.”The first single“Too Little Too Late”came out today, July 24, and fans can also expect a track called“Rehab Blues”where Peck admits he was frustrated with the process and thought he didn’t have a problem. In a 2025 NPR interview, he shared that he’s now happy he got sober and has spent the last two to three years working on himself.
