It’s not every day that Monday morning in a California prison turns into a scene straight out of an action movie. Yet, that’s exactly what went down at the California State Prison in Folsom when a riot erupted, injuring four inmates and prompting a hefty response from prison staff. We’re talking about 20 inmates involved in what must have felt like a chaotic free-for-all—who knew Mondays could be so wild?
With things getting out of control, prison staff took action using chemical agents, warning shots, and non-lethal weapons to regain some semblance of order. Fortunately, none of the staff were injured, but I imagine they’re rethinking how they spend their Mondays. Four improvised weapons were recovered following the dust-up, which, let’s be honest, doesn’t scream “rehabilitation,” does it?
After the riot, all those involved were placed in restricted housing while an investigation takes place. Movement around the facility is currently limited, likely leaving everyone a bit rattled. So, if you thought your commute was rough this week, imagine being stuck behind bars during such a scene.
What do you think could have spurred such chaos? Could it be a case of too much time on their hands or something deeper at play? Let’s hear your thoughts!
