Sacramento's Court Revolution: Goodbye Cramped Hallways, Hello Juror Paradise!

Sacramento is gearing up for a fresh start with the Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye Sacramento Superior Courthouse set to open fully by April 27. This impressive new facility will replace the long-serving Gordon D. Schaber Courthouse and Hall of Justice and aims to modernize the judicial experience for everyone in the county.

Finding a courtroom in the new building won’t be a headache, thanks to clear signage and eight elevators servicing 17 public-facing floors. With 53 state-of-the-art courtrooms, equipped with advanced technology for video conferencing and digital evidence presentation, the age of outdated judicial spaces is officially over!

One of the biggest highlights? The jury assembly room, boasting the capacity for 500 jurors, marks a significant upgrade from the congested assembly areas of the past. No more crammed hallways and awkward spillovers; jurors can now check in easily and find plenty of space to relax before their number is called. With this makeover, jury duty is no longer a dreaded task but a comfortable experience. What a transformation!
