Taylor Swift has a new honor to add to the shelf, and this one is all about the writing. The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame announced she’s part of its Class of 2026, inducting her in the contemporary songwriter/artist category. At 36, she becomes the youngest person ever welcomed into the Hall, and she did it in her very first year of eligibility. Not bad for a kid who showed up in Music City with a guitar and a notebook back in 2006.
Swift has always pointed back to Nashville as the place that shaped her. She said she fixated on this town as a child because she wanted to learn from the best and be part of a community of storytellers. The numbers back up the songwriting: 108 of her songs have landed on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, including ten that went all the way to No. 1.
She’s not going in alone. Lyle Lovett, Bruce Channel, Shawn Camp and Lee Thomas Miller are all part of the class, and the late J.I. Allison, drummer and songwriter for Buddy Holly’s Crickets, was added in the legacy category. The induction gala is set for Monday, Oct. 26, at the Music City Center in Nashville.
