The 2026 Emmy Awards delivered a night full of repeat winners and one very emotional tribute. Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the second year in a row for The Pitt, and the show also took home Outstanding Drama Series back to back. Wyle shared a sweet moment with his wife Sara Wells before heading to the stage, then gave fans a little taste of what’s ahead, saying the cast would be back at work the next morning for a very dramatic Season 3 storyline. Production is already midway through episode eight of fifteen.
Widow’s Bay was the story of the night on the comedy side, winning Outstanding Comedy Series and collecting 14 Emmys overall. Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show won Outstanding Variety Series after ending its run in May, and Colbert celebrated by dancing through the ballroom with an Emmy in each hand. The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Program, and host Alan Cumming had the press room laughing about the romance between Phaedra Parks and CT Tamburello, calling it charming, hilarious and beautiful.
The Dolly Parton tribute brought the room to a hush. Sally Field admitted backstage that she could barely hold back tears during the segment, and Tiffany Haddish was just as moved. Host Mariska Hargitay kept the night flowing from start to finish, but it was that tribute and the back-to-back champions that folks will be talking about around the water cooler. Which win surprised you the most this year?
