Arizona State University is making headlines with a brand new bachelor’s degree in content creation. Starting fall 2026, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication will offer a program that teaches students how to build a personal brand, produce video and podcasts, analyze audience data, and work with real companies on marketing campaigns. It’s a full four-year degree dedicated to the art of influencing.

The program comes as the creator economy continues to explode. Goldman Sachs projects it will hit $480 billion by 2027. Senior Associate Dean Jessica Pucci says graduates will leave with a real following and real audience growth – not just a diploma. Students will create content for platforms like TikTok, complete media internships, and build a portfolio of work that proves they can do the job.

Whether you think it’s a smart career move or a little over the top, the truth is that traditional media and digital content are competing harder than ever for your attention. And with this kind of money on the table, universities are paying attention. What do you think – is a degree in influencing worth the tuition, or should kids just keep learning on the job? Let us know.
