Five years after the series signed off,Call My Agent!is back. This time it’s a full-length movie on Netflix, and the whole original cast returned for it. Camille Cottin leads the way as Andréa, who’s trying to direct her first independent film. Her former colleagues from the Paris talent agency get swept into the production, which goes about as smoothly as you’d guess.
Series creator Fanny Herrero co-wrote the screenplay, so the tone stays true to what made the show a hit. Celebrity guest stars still play exaggerated versions of themselves, and this round includes George Clooney, Laetitia Casta, and Vincent Macaigne. The film runs roughly twice as long as a standard episode, making it an easy weeknight watch.
If you missed the show the first time around, it became a genuine comfort watch for a lot of people during the pandemic. The mix of backstage satire and real emotional warmth is hard to pull off, and this movie aims to recapture that same feeling. It doesn’t reinvent anything, but it doesn’t need to.
Did you watchCall My Agent!during lockdown? What was your go-to comfort show back then?
