Car influencer James Wehr, 27, died early Sunday, September 13, after his 2019 McLaren crashed in Irvine, California. Police say the car lost control, struck a curb and a tree, split in two, and caught fire. A second person in the car, identified by family as 22-year-old model Alexis“Lexi”Kramer, also died.

James and his wife Emma, 26, had been married just two months. Emma broke her silence on Instagram with a tribute that read, in part,“Whether it’s in this lifetime or the next, my heart will always find its way to you. Rest easy, my love.”She then set her account to private. Lexi’s family says she flew in from Florida on September 11 believing James was separated from Emma, a detail that has added confusion and heartbreak to an already devastating story.

The crash has sparked conversations about high-performance vehicles, influencer culture, and how grief plays out in public when your life is lived online. Two young lives ended that morning in Irvine, and two families are left asking questions no one can answer.

What do you think? Should families of public figures share their grief publicly, or is privacy the only way to heal?
