After years of mounting tension over unpaid obligations, Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller have reached a settlement that marks a significant turning point in their post-divorce relationship. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Thursday, July 9, the 60-year-old actor has agreed to pay his ex-wife $500,000 in back child support stretching over more than a decade.

The agreement breaks the payment into two installments: $250,000 due on or before Friday, July 10, with the remaining $250,000 due on or before September 1. Once Sheen completes the full payment, Mueller’s disputed claims for child support arrearages and interest spanning from March 1, 2011, through July 1, 2026, will be completely satisfied. The court filing emphasizes that both parties have agreed to the arrangement without coercion or duress, and that it serves the best interest of their 16-year-old twin sons.

This settlement comes just months after Mueller, 48, filed court documents in December 2025 claiming Sheen owed her substantially more—roughly $8,967,600 for child support from 2011 to 2025, plus interest totaling approximately $15 million. The gap between Mueller’s initial filing and this resolution suggests meaningful negotiation and compromise from both sides.

What makes this financial resolution particularly noteworthy isn’t just the dollar figure—it’s the context surrounding it. In September 2025, Mueller appeared in the two-part Netflix docuseries aka Charlie Sheen, where she spoke remarkably fondly of her former husband. She credited him with stepping up during her darkest struggles with addiction and praised his evolution into a responsible protector, especially regarding their sons. That public acknowledgment seemed to signal a genuine shift in their dynamic, and the settlement appears to reflect that healing.

Starting July 1, the agreement also establishes that each parent will be financially responsible for the children while they’re in their custody—a fresh financial framework for moving forward. Meanwhile, Mueller has maintained her friendship with Sheen’s other ex-wife, Denise Richards, creating what Richards aptly described on her podcast in March 2025 as a big, blended family with considerable history. It’s a far cry from typical celebrity divorce drama.

The settlement demonstrates that even complicated relationships can find resolution when both parties are genuinely committed to what’s best for their kids.
