Chris Rock Returns to the Director's Chair with "Misty Green" and the Buzz Is Real

Chris Rock has directed his first feature film in over a decade, and it just made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.“Misty Green”is Rock’s first outing as a writer-director since 2014’s“Top Five,”which also debuted at TIFF. The A24 film stars Rosalind Eleazar as a former Emmy-winning actress fighting to revive her career, a premise that hits close to home in Hollywood. Rock packed the cast with heavy hitters, including Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace, and Anthony Anderson. Early buzz has centered on Eleazar, with the Associated Press calling her performance one of the best of the year.

Rock has been open about how much he enjoys the work, saying simply,“I like directing. I like it a lot,”and adding he hopes to do more of it. He also shrugged off outside pressure with a grin, asking whether anyone goes to a restaurant expecting it to be bad.
