Christian Bale Opens Foster Care Village in California Built to Keep Siblings Together

Christian Bale has played plenty of heroes on screen, but this one is real. The actor and his wife Sibi just opened Together California, a foster care village in Palmdale with twelve fully furnished homes on a 4.67-acre property. The mission is straightforward and powerful: keep brothers and sisters together when they enter foster care, instead of letting the system split them apart.

The numbers behind the project are just as impressive as the idea. The Austrian American Council West raised over $9 million to make it happen, and Leonardo DiCaprio also donated to the effort. Bale and Sibi were inspired to act after the birth of their first daughter, and California’s foster system, the largest in the nation, usually separates siblings. Bale put the heartbreak into words that are hard to shake: kids lose their parents, and then they lose each other.

Twelve homes won’t solve everything, but for the families who walk through those doors together, it changes the whole story.
