When Crystal Kung Minkoff sits down for a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, she doesn’t just show up and hope for the best—she comes prepared. During the Monday, July 13 episode of her“Humble Brag”podcast, the 43-year-old revealed that she took deliberate steps to keep Annemarie Wiley’s then-husband Marcellus Wiley away from the Season 13 reunion taping, which was also Annemarie’s only season on the show.

Crystal didn’t mince words about her reasoning. She explained that she’d“always felt very uncomfortable”around Marcellus and made a formal request to production that he be barred from attending. What’s telling is that she didn’t even have to push hard—Bravo had apparently already decided to ask him not to come.“I called production and I made sure. I was going to insist, but apparently they already asked him not to come,”she said. The reunion operated under a“no husbands allowed”policy, with the network stepping in to provide what Crystal described as very protective and helpful support.

The tension between Crystal and Annemarie during filming ran deep. Crystal claimed that Marcellus, 51, had“lied”about both her and Bravo alum Garcelle Beauvais on social media, adding fuel to an already combustible dynamic heading into the reunion.“We were heading into a reunion in which she and I were going to be combative,”Crystal acknowledged, also expressing sadness about the impact on their children.

The backstory here is crucial: just weeks before this podcast episode aired, Marcellus was arrested for domestic battery on July 4 following an alleged altercation with Annemarie at a Florida hotel. According to her witness statement, Annemarie claimed that Marcellus threatened to“kill her”and“put his hands on her.”The court issued a no contact order on July 5, and Annemarie filed for divorce on July 6 after 12 years of marriage. They share three children together—Marcellus Jr., 10, Ariya, 7, and Alivia, 6—plus Marcellus has a daughter from a prior relationship.

In her custody filing, Annemarie alleged a“continuing and escalating pattern of physical violence, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse, financial control and intimidation, much of which our children have witnessed.”She’s seeking legal and physical custody with no visitation, spousal support, and attorney fees. Marcellus has denied what he called“baseless claims”in a social media statement. Crystal’s decision to keep him off that reunion stage, it turns out, was just the beginning of a much larger and far more serious reckoning.
