Jalen Brunson won a championship in June, and he’s been on quite a ride ever since. Monday night the Knicks guard and Finals MVP made his Emmys debut, appearing in the opening number with host Mariska Hargitay. The bit had the two of them steaming their outfits, her dress and his No. 11 jersey, like it was just another Sunday before church.

Hargitay, a longtime Knicks fan, worked in a jab about pressure and name-dropped OG Anunoby’s Game 4 tip-in that capped the greatest comeback in team and Finals history. Then came the line of the night. She told Brunson, hey, it’s just me, I don’t have anyone to tap it in for me. Brunson took the ribbing with a grin, which is exactly the kind of class you want from a champion.

And the victory lap isn’t over. Brunson has an upcoming Law&Order: SVU appearance and hosts the season premiere of Saturday Night Live later this month. From the Finals to the Emmys to Studio 8H, it’s been one memorable summer.
