Jimmy Buffett's Lost Vault: The Coral Reefers Finish a Posthumous Album of Unreleased Classics

McAnally told Billboard that listening to these recordings for three months while finishing the project nearly had him grinning non-stop, because you can literally hear Buffett’s smile in his voice.

The album marks a continuation of the band’s mission to honor Jimmy’s legacy without trying to replace him. Currently on a headlining summer tour through August 8, the Coral Reefers perform with his microphone standing empty on stage, a powerful visual reminder of the bandleader who handpicked each of them to play with him for his entire adult life. The band already has audiences hearing one of the new tracks,“Workin’n’Playin’,”performed as a duet between the group and Buffett’s voice from the vault. Meanwhile, Key West has approved Buffett’s Shrimp Boat Sound Studio—where much of this music was created—to operate as both a working recording space and a tourist destination, preserving the place where his musical magic happened.
