Judge Judy, 83, Is Hanging Up the Robe — and Her Son Is Taking the Gavel

Judge Judy Sheindlin is ending her onscreen career, and she’s doing it her way. Her final“Judy Justice”episode airs October 22, closing out a run that started back in 1996 and brought her three Daytime Emmys. She’s eighty-three now, and she told People she’s got a lot of other things of interest, she doesn’t want to sit through hair and makeup anymore, but she still wants her message heard. She also said she has never been this content.

The gavel isn’t going far. It’s heading to her son, Adam Levy, 58, a former Putnam County, New York district attorney who’s already appeared on“Tribunal Justice.”His new syndicated small-claims show,“Adam’s Law,”premieres September 14, with Judy on board as producer. As she put it, maybe eight years ago he wasn’t ready. He’s ready now. That’s a mother’s blessing if we’ve ever heard one.
