In a legal case that’s already contentious, things just got tighter for Stefon Diggs. A federal judge has rejected the wide receiver’s deliberately minimal response about how he knows Christopher Blake Griffith, the man accusing him of drugging and sexually assaulting him in 2023. Diggs had brushed off the question with a simple“acquaintances”answer—but the judge wasn’t having it.

The ruling came down as part of a broader discovery dispute in the ongoing legal battle between the two. Griffith’s legal team wanted specifics about their relationship before the alleged incident. Diggs’response essentially amounted to stonewalling, which caught the attention of the court. In a June 3 order, the judge directed Diggs to provide a“truthful, complete, and non-evasive response”that actually explains the nature of their connection. Translation: the vague approach doesn’t fly anymore.

That’s not all. The court also ordered Diggs to give fuller details about his interactions with Griffith in May 2023 and to specify which people were present at his Rockville, Maryland residence during the relevant period. These are the kinds of specifics that typically form the backbone of he-said-he-said cases—establishing proximity, opportunity, and witness accounts.

Diggs did secure one win in the ruling: the judge determined he doesn’t have to answer questions about any prior possession or distribution of controlled substances. That’s a meaningful carve-out given that Griffith’s allegations center on drugging.

The pressure’s on now. Diggs has 14 days from the June 3 order to cough up the additional discovery, and the judge made it clear that noncompliance carries teeth—sanctions are on the table. Meanwhile, Diggs has fired back with his own defamation lawsuit, arguing that Griffith fabricated the allegations and damaged his reputation. What unfolds in the next two weeks could shape how this case moves forward.
