Some festival memories stick with you for all the right reasons. Others? Not so much. That’s exactly what Khloe Kardashian experienced at Coachella back in 2016, an outing so rough that a decade later, she’s still not interested in a repeat performance.

During a recent episode of her Khloé in Wonder Land podcast, the 41-year-old opened up about what went down at a desert party during the California festival. She attended what was supposed to be a fun night out, but things took a turn when she drank something without realizing it was laced with drugs. The kicker? Everyone else at the party seemed to know what was happening—everyone except her. She didn’t figure out what was going on until well into the night, at which point she was already spiraling. Panicked and confused about why she felt so out of control, she locked herself in a bathroom for hours while people were yelling at her to come out. It was the kind of experience that sticks with you, and not in a good way.

The irony is thick this year. Coachella 2026 rolled around in April with Justin Bieber headlining, and for the first time in years, Khloe actually had FOMO about the festival. But she made the call to skip it anyway, prioritizing her daughter True’s birthday weekend instead. While she stayed home in Los Angeles, her sisters made the pilgrimage to Indio without her. Kim Kardashian showed up with boyfriend Lewis Hamilton to catch Bieber’s set, Kourtney Kardashian hosted her star-studded Camp Poosh party, Kendall Jenner threw an 818 tequila event, and Kylie Jenner went so hard she attended both weekends. Even momager Kris Jenner tuned in via livestream from out of the country to show support for Bieber.

For Khloe, though, family came first—and honestly, that’s not a bad call. When your previous experience at a festival involves a bathroom meltdown you didn’t sign up for, skipping round two starts to look pretty wise. Sometimes the best memories are the ones you don’t make.
