Luke Evans Honors Tim Curry With Heartfelt Letter Before Broadway Debut

Tim Curry, the legendary actor who first brought Dr. Frank-N-Furter to life in the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, passed away on August 25 at the age of 80. But before he died, fellow actor Luke Evans made sure Curry knew just how much his work meant. Evans, 47, is set to make his Broadway debut playing that same iconic role in 2026, and he sent Curry a letter thanking him for his unforgettable performance.

According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Evans said Curry was very sick when he received the letter and was struggling a lot. Even so, Curry was appreciative of the gesture. After Curry’s passing, Evans shared the letter on Instagram along with a message that being compared to Curry was one of the greatest compliments he has ever received. He added that there is, and always will be, only one Tim Curry.

This story is a beautiful reminder of the way performers honor the legends who came before them. For country music fans especially, there’s something familiar about that passing of the torch, the gratitude one artist shows another.
