A brand new“Marvel’s Wolverine”video game is heading exclusively to PS5 on September 15th, and it’s making some bold moves. For the first time in a long while, Logan is stepping away from the X-Men universe. Instead, he’s part of a black ops team called Team X, hunting down the mutant-hating scientist Bolivar Trask. The story kicks off with a memory-wiped Logan lost in the woods, giving gamers a fresh take on the character.
The most talked-about change is the voice. Hugh Jackman is out, replaced by Australian actor Liam McIntyre. The game’s narrative director, Walt Williams, promises a Wolverine who feels everything intensely, including a relationship with Jean Grey. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a softer Logan, though. The game is rated M for Mature, bringing the rage-fueled, graphic combat that the character is known for to the forefront.
This new direction is generating plenty of buzz and debate among fans. It’s a major shift from the beloved movie version that most people know and love. Are you ready to see a different side of the clawed mutant, or does the thought of a new Wolverine voice just feel wrong to you?
