NeNe Leakes Says Kim Zolciak Is 'Not OK' as Son KJ Faces Felony Charges

NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak built a reputation as two of the fiercest rivals in“Real Housewives of Atlanta”history. But last week, Leakes did something that had nothing to do with cameras: she checked on her old foe. On“The Big Tigger Morning Show,”Leakes said of Zolciak,“I know that’s a tough time, and I know she’s not OK.”

The reason is serious. Zolciak’s 15-year-old son, KJ Biermann, was arrested Aug. 21 on aggravated sexual battery and sodomy charges after a female classmate accused him of assault at a Georgia fitness center. On Sept. 3, a grand jury indicted him on seven felony charges. At a Friday hearing in Fulton County Superior Court, KJ was granted a $200,000 bond with strict conditions: no social media, no cell phone, virtual schooling, and he must stay at his mother’s home. Zolciak has denied the allegations, calling them“reckless and deeply troubling,”and says her son categorically denies them.

It’s a painful chapter for a family that’s already lived plenty of ups and downs in the public eye. Whatever your take on reality TV, there’s a real mother and a real teenager at the center of this one.
