Pink Breaks Silence on Macklemore Backlash: "A Repost Isn't a Statement"

Pink is speaking for herself. On Friday, September 11, the singer addressed the backlash she faced for reposting a StopAntisemitism message that criticized Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian remarks during his opening sets for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium on September 4 and 5. During those shows, Macklemore chanted“Free Palestine”and performed“Hind’s Hall.”Critics petitioned to remove him from the remaining Loop Tour dates, and Pink caught heat from both directions for her repost. In her Instagram statement, she made one thing clear:“A repost isn’t a statement, and a meme isn’t a spine.”

Pink, who shared that she was born Jewish and stands by her October 2023 comments, also admitted that posting snarky memes during the backlash was a mistake she owns. She reaffirmed that Hamas is a terrorist organization while adding that Palestinians deserve a future that honors their humanity and their aspirations.
