Ricky Martin Debuts Shaved Head and Returns to Spanish-Language Film After 20 Years at Venice Film Festival

Ricky Martin turned heads at the Venice International Film Festival this week, but it wasn’t just his white Giorgio Armani blazer that had people talking. The 54-year-old singer and actor debuted a dramatic buzzcut, trading in his usual spiked brunette hair for a lighter, closer crop. He attended his first Venice Film Festival over the weekend to support his upcoming comedy-drama,“Hombre Al Agua,”which translates to“Man Overboard.”

This project marks a big career milestone for Martin. It’s his first full Spanish-language film role in more than two decades. The movie stars Martin alongside Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, with Gael Garcia Bernal directing and co-starring. It tells the story of a Cuban lifeguard who rescues a Mexican businessman. Bernal described landing Martin for the part as a“wonderful accident,”noting that Martin said,“Whatever you want,”before the project was even fully explained to him.
