Simone Biles might not be finished with the Olympics just yet. The 29-year-old gymnast hasn’t announced anything about the 2028 Los Angeles Games, and she joked there was“no breaking news”when the topic came up. But she did say she plans to reach out to Serena Williams for advice on what a comeback really takes, adding,“I actually need to text her like,‘Hey, what are your thoughts?'”Williams returned to tennis this year at 44 after stepping away in 2022, playing Wimbledon singles and U.S. Open doubles with her sister Venus.

Biles has been on a break since the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she won three golds and a silver. That brought her total to 11 Olympic medals across three Games, including seven golds. Back in April, she put her odds of competing in Los Angeles at“50-50”and said a decision would need to come fairly soon. The physical part isn’t what worries her, since her coaches can get her back into shape. It’s the mental commitment of another full Olympic cycle, especially after withdrawing from the 2021 Tokyo Games with the twisties.

That’s where Serena’s experience comes in. Coming back from a break at the top level is as much a mental game as a physical one, and few people understand that balance better than Williams. Whatever Biles decides, she’s already earned the right to make it on her own terms. So what do you think, should she go for one more run in Los Angeles?
